처음에 Ted 강연을 들을 때는 인종차별에 대한 내용인 줄로만 알았다. 그래서 원래 알던 내용과 별 차이가 없을 줄 알았다. 그런데 계속해서 듣다보니 인종차별에 그치지 않고 자신의 삶에 대한 주체성을 가지라는 내용이어서 색달랐다. 브라이언 스티븐슨은 좋은 할머니를 둔 것 같아 부러웠다. 모든 손자들을 특별하다고, 뭐든지 해낼 수 있다고 힘을 준다는 부분이 인상깊었다. 

 미국 뿐만이 아니라 전 세계에 인종차별은 만연해 있다. 이 강연을 통해 나의 주체성에 대해 다시 생각해보고 나부터 사람의 외적인 요소보다는 내면의 가치를 우선시해야겠다고 다짐했다.

When I first heard Ted, I thought it was about racism. That's why I thought it wouldn't be much different from what I originally knew. However, as I listened to it over and over again, it was not only about racism, but also about self-reliance on one's own life, so it was different. Brian Stevenson envied having a nice grandmother. I was impressed by the fact that all grandchildren were special, giving them the strength to do anything. 

Racism is prevalent not only in the U.S. but around the world. Through this lecture, I will reconsider my self-reliance and first put priority on the value of my inner self rather than the external factors of a person.
