Husbands are the most untrustworthy group of people in Korea, an analysis of big data shows.
Daumsoft, a data company, made the conclusion after analyzing 530 million writings posted on domestic Internet blogs and communities over the past three years and five months, and released its findings at a workshop on Friday.
According to the analysis, husbands were at the top of the list of "The 10 most suspicious groups." Fathers were also ranked at eighth place, meaning Korea's married men have failed to win the trust of both their spouses and children. Wives were not included on the list of the top 10 untrustworthy groups.
Following husbands on the list of suspicious people are friends, at second place, and colleagues, third. Among professionals, doctors are the only group that made it on the top-10 list, ranked at sixth place.
In the list of "the top-10 liars," mothers are rated at second place. Mothers are regarded as liars because they often say, "You will become beautiful when you enter college," or "I will forgive you if you speak frankly." Friends took the top place in this category and husbands took third place on this list, too.
"Husbands, fathers, mothers and children are included on the top-10 list of suspicious or lying people, indicating that trust between family members is being seriously shaken in Korea," Daumsoft reported. "Particularly, incidences of words such as ‘believe' and ‘trust' have been on the decline over the past three and a half years, revealing the increase of distrust within Korean society."
