Korean dramas often have complex plot twists and overly dramatic relationships and love-triangles on-screen, but that isn’t quite the case off-screen.
The atmosphere off-screen and behind the scenes is just as dynamic but not nearly as complicated or intense.
Take a look at some popular dramas on-screen and off-screen.
“W”
 | (MBC "W") | On-screen, there has been an escalating romance between Kang-chul (played by Lee Jong-suk) and Oh Yeon-joo (played by Han Hyo-joo), whilst New Face (played by Kim Eui-sung) attempts to foil their romance and kill Lee and Oh.
 | (Chorokbaem media) | Off-screen, these three enjoy their rest in between takes by taking selfies and making funny faces.
“Uncontrollably Fond”
 | (KBS "Uncontrollably Fond") | It’s never easy for lovebirds Shin Joon-young (played by Kim Woo-bin) and No Eul (played by Bae Suzy) as their relationship goes through all kinds of hurdles, from jealous ex-girlfriends to a terminal illness.
 | (Kim Woo-bin fanpage Instagram) | Fortunately, they’re not faced with the same hardships when the cameras aren’t rolling. They maintain a good friendship, while being professional about their careers.
“Scarlet Heart: Ryeo”
 | (SBS "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo") | Prince Wang Wook (played by Kang Ha-neul) and Prince Wang So (played by Lee Joon-gi) are in a fierce love-triangle with Hae-soo (played by IU) and their rivalry continues to elevate on-screen.
 | (Lee Joon-gi official Instagram) | Their off-screen chemistry is quite the opposite. Lee and Kang seem to share a very close brotherly bond, probably closer than with IU.
“Moonlight Drawn by Clouds”
 | (KBS "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds") | Prince Lee Young (played by Park Bo-gum) and the eunach Ra-on (played by Kim Yoo-jung) have an ill-fated relationship, as their social class interferes with their feelings for each other. They also go through a number of hurdles just to stay alive and keep each other safe.
 | (Park Bo-gum official Instagram) | Off-screen, these two share a good brother-sister friendship, often take selfies, and seem blissfully unaware of their characters‘ on-screen struggles.
