기업은 사회적 책임을 져야 하는가에 대한 토의 진행

 

찬성 입장

 

Today, corporate growth and development are becoming large enough to define social or national economic development and the structure of economic society. Thus, corporate activities have a great social impact, which has led to a greater social position. The entity shall evaluate the products produced by the consumers and the market and profit from them. In other words, a company cannot exist without society. In the past, when it was reported that Nike exploited child labor to make soccer shoes, soccer balls, etc., a massive boycott took place. As such, consumers pay attention to corporate social image and their good deeds. Also, taking social responsibility can be beneficial from the perspective of a company. Contributing to the community, continuously exposing positive images and generating more profit.

 

반대 입장 

It should be seen as a social contribution, not as a corporate social responsibility. From the point of view of economics, the only responsibility that companies have to take on society is profit maximization. It is not desirable in terms of efficiency that an entity voluntarily injects more costs beyond legal regulations in the production process. In addition, as people began to judge social responsibility as unconditionally positive, more consumers began to want quantitative expansion, and social pressure on corporate social responsibility increased. In fact, Korean companies invest 1.83 percent of their pre-tax profits in social contribution, higher than those of the U.S. (1.69 percent) and Japan (1.39 percent), but the cost-effectiveness is minimal. They say that taking social responsibility does not bring much profit to companies. We also need to talk about the scope of social responsibility. It is also expected that how much responsibility should be held if it causes damage to shareholders and consumers due to hard-to-preparation factors such as employee corruption or natural disasters.
