C/2025 F2 (스완) 혜성은 2025년 3월 29일에 아마추어 천문학자 마이클 마티아조와 블라디미르 베즈글리에 의해
발견되었다. 그들은 소호(SOHO) 우주선에 탑재된 SWAN(태양풍 이방성) 관측 장비의 영상을 이용하여 이 혜성을
식별했다. 이 혜성은 처음에는 약 11등급으로 관측되었다. 2025년 4월 중순, C/2025 F2 혜성은 약 8.6에서 8.7등급으로
관측되어 쌍안경이나 소형 망원경으로 관측할 수 있게 되었다. 이 혜성은 2025년 4월 5일경 눈에 띄는 폭발을 했으며,
이로 인해 밝기가 증가하고 꼬리 길이가 약 2도까지 늘어났다. 이 혜성은 태양에 가장 가까이 접근하는 근일점인
2025년 5월 1일에 최대 5.0등급에 도달할 수 있을 것으로 예상한다.
Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN) was discovered on March 29, 2025, by amateur astronomers Michael Mattiazzo and
Vladimir Bezugly. They identified the comet using images from the Solar Wind ANisotropies (SWAN) instrument
aboard the SOHO spacecraft. The comet was initially observed at a magnitude of approximately 11. As of mid-April
2025, Comet SWAN has been observed at a visual magnitude of around 8.6 to 8.7, making it visible with the aid of
binoculars or a small telescope. The comet underwent a notable outburst around April 5, 2025, which increased its
brightness and extended its tail to approximately 2 degrees in length. The comet is expected to reach a maximum
magnitude of 5.0 by May 1, 2025, which coincides with its perihelion, its closest approach to the Sun.
