NCT Dream makes rice cakes for Chuseok

NCT Dream aired a Chuseok special show on the V app Thursday, featuring the group’s seven members making rice cakes.

During Chuseok, or the Korean Thanksgiving, Korean families usually gather to celebrate the year’s harvest.

Haechan, who calls himself NCT Dream’s “life of the party,” asked fellow group members what came to their minds when they hear the word “Chuseok.”

The members offered various answers such as the full moon, Korean traditional attire or “hanbok” and “songpyeon,” a type of rice cake in the shape of a crescent moon, usually eaten during Chuseok. It is filled with red bean or honey and sesame.

The Chinese members of the group, Chenle and Renjun, were reminded of the round moon cakes filled with lotus paste in their home country.

The group members spent the rest of the V show demonstrating and making their own songpyeon, with some in the shape of stars.

According to a Korean folk saying, a person who is able to make pretty-looking songpyeon is bound to become a parent to a pretty baby.
