Busan climate action film festival kicks off
Published : 2015-11-05 17:48 The Busan Climate Action Film Festival is returning for a second year with three films with messages about sustainability, two of them local.
The festival begins Friday with a bring-your-own-cup-and-plate “Veggie Fest” party. The opening film is “An Omnivorous Family’s Dilemma,” which follows director Hwang Yun as she befriends a family of pigs on a farm and starts to think about the pigs’ family and her own family in parallel.
The second Korean film, which also closes out the festival, is “Bike, City.” The film focuses on a group of cyclists who bike their way from the suburbs of Seoul into the city’s center, chatting with each other and giving interviews about traveling by bike and how more should be done to encourage more bikers. The film playing between these two movies is “Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret” by Kip Anderson, which challenges environmental activists and organizations to take the impact of the meat and dairy industries on climate change more seriously. The festival takes place on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Busan Community Media Center in Haeundae. Talks with the directors are available for the Korean films after the screenings.
