미국의 3대 대통령. 미국 건국 주역 중 한명으로 그중에서도 많은 업적을 남겼다.

... it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them.
... 나는 일말의 주저함도 없이 신문 없는 정부보다 정부 없는 신문을 선택하겠다. 하지만 이는 모든 사람들이 신문을 받아 보고 읽을 능력이 있어야 한다는 것을 전제로 한다. 

언론의 중요성을 각인시키는 명언이라 생각해서 선택했다.
